Final Fantasy XIII-2 art director Isamu Kamikouryo said in an interview with Xbox Japan that when designing Valhalla, he saw in a magazine a picture of Havana, Cuba. He said it was similar to how he pictured Valhalla in his head, and used the city throughout the development process as his reference.
